On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) commemorated its 68th anniversary, celebrating its remarkable achievements and the dedication of its police officers. This year’s celebration underscores significant advancements and ongoing challenges faced by the institution.
The event honors the sacrifices made by National Security members who ensure public order and citizen protection, often at great personal risk. Under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the DGSN has modernized its services and infrastructure, enhancing public safety and effectively combating crime. Security governance and community policing remain central to the DGSN's strategy, upholding public service ethics and strengthening citizen trust.
The DGSN has enhanced its crime-fighting capabilities with advanced forensic and technical police laboratories and internationally compliant detention procedures. Citizen services have seen improvements in the efficient issuance of electronic and administrative identification documents and residence permits for foreigners, fostering trust between the police and the community. Efforts to combat cross-border illegal migration and terrorism have resulted in numerous arrests, seizures of falsified documents, and the dismantling of criminal networks and terrorist cells.
The fifth edition of the National Security Open Days (JPO) in Agadir, taking place from May 17 to 21, aims to enhance community engagement. Citizens will have the opportunity to learn about various security missions and explore advanced equipment, including digital technologies used for security purposes.
The DGSN remains committed to modernizing its infrastructure and services while enhancing community policing. The institution continues to prioritize national and transnational crime fighting, working towards the goals of the 2022-2026 Security Strategy to ensure a secure environment for all citizens.
As the DGSN celebrates its 68th anniversary, it reflects on its progress and reaffirms its dedication to citizens. Proud of its achievements and aware of future challenges, the DGSN is determined to meet modern and future security challenges, ensuring public tranquility and a safe future for all.
